Are You a New Patient?

At Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we’re always excited about seeing new patients. If you’ll be visiting us for the first time, we hope you’ll take a moment to look at our New Patients page. Here you’ll find helpful information about a range of topics.

First of all, you’ll find a link to our new patient form. We recommend printing this out and completing it before you come in. Doing your paperwork in advance will help us streamline your appointment. We can start processing your form immediately while you wait to see Dr. Gene Drake or Dr. Jayson Voto.

Also on our New Patient page is some helpful information on CareCredit and the range of payment options we accept. We want care to be as accessible as possible, which is why we’ve included this information on our website.

Finally, we want to encourage you—whether you’re a new patient or not—to give us a call if you’re experiencing a dental emergency. No emergency happens when it’s convenient—then it wouldn’t be an emergency. Give us a call immediately if you need urgent help.

Are you visiting Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in the near future? Explore our website and give us a call if you have any questions. We serve patients from Owasso, Claremore, Sperry, Collinsville, Tulsa, Skiatook, and nearby communities.

Oral and Overall Health

What if we told you there was a connection between oral and overall health. Would you be surprised? Recent data suggests that there is indeed a connection and that the specific link is gum disease, an incredibly common oral health condition that’s also the number one cause of tooth loss in adults.

Gum disease is the result of bacteria and plaque building up around the gum line. Symptoms of the condition include:

  • Swollen or sensitive gums
  • Gums that bleed when you brush
  • Recurring bad breath
  • Receding gums
  • Loose teeth
  • Pockets between teeth and gums

The first half of this list applies largely to mild cases of gum disease. The second half of the list describes more advanced cases. Once pockets have developed, the bacteria and plaque of gum disease can use them to travel to other parts of the body through the bloodstream.

A wide variety of health problems have been connection to gum disease, including:

  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Alzheimer’s
  • Hypertension
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Pre-term or low birth weight

Enjoying good oral and overall health means doing two things. First, it means sticking to a good oral health routine. Second, it means visiting Drake & Voto at least twice a year for regular cleanings and checkups with Dr. Gene Drake and Dr. Jayson Voto.

Is it time for your next appointment with our Owasso dental team? Call us today for an appointment. Dr. Drake and Dr. Voto serve patients from Owasso, Claremore, Collinsville, Tulsa, Sperry, Skiatook, and beyond.

Reclaim Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers from Drake & Voto in Owasso, OK

American writer and philosopher Max Eastman once said that “A smile is the universal welcome.” It can be difficult, though, to welcome anyone with a smile if you’re self-conscious about the condition of your teeth. At Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Owasso, OK, Dr. Gene Drake and Dr. Jayson Voto can help you achieve a smile you’re proud to show off with revolutionary cosmetic dentistry solutions like porcelain veneers.

Why Choose Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin, long-lasting layers of dental porcelain that are custom-fitted to the front surfaces of your teeth. They are incredibly durable and stain-resistant, giving you the freedom to smile confidently. Some of the most common dental imperfections corrected with porcelain veneers include the following:

  • Yellowing and discoloration resistant to professional teeth whitening treatments
  • Misalignment of teeth visible when you smile
  • Gaps between front teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or too large in relation to surrounding teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Cracks and chips

When Dr. Drake and Dr. Voto place your customized porcelain veneers – a process that typically involves just two office visits – the result is a whiter, straighter, more uniform smile that still looks and feels natural.

Revitalize Your Smile with Porcelain Veneers

If you’ve spent years dissatisfied with your smile, it’s time to take the first step toward improved oral health and a more aesthetically pleasing overall appearance. Contact us at our Owasso, OK office today to see how Dr. Drake and Dr. Voto can help you smile with confidence with the help of porcelain veneers. We also happily welcome patients from Claremore, Collinsville, Tulsa, Sperry, Skiatook and beyond.

Start Planning Your Year-End Care Now

With November starting tomorrow, the rest of 2013 is going to slip by quicker than you might think. Thanksgiving is on the horizon and after that all the holidays of December. From now until the end of the year, you have to be careful about how you use your time. That means that if you need dental care, or if you’d like to do something with a cosmetic service, you need to start making plans now.

At Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we would be happy to talk to you about any of your dental needs. We offer a wide range of the best general, cosmetic, and restorative services to help patients achieve optimal oral health, as well as improving patient confidence.

During your appointment, Dr. Drake and Dr. Voto will assess your oral health and talk to you about what goals you have for your smile. Based on the conversation we have, we’ll put together a customized treatment plan designed to address your exact situation.

Even if you’re not in need of cosmetic or restorative care, though, why not come in for one last visit while your current dental benefits are still in play? For most people, dental benefits don’t rollover from one year to the next. If you’ve already paid your deductible for this year, your insurance may help you pay for important care.

Do you want to schedule an appointment with Dr. Drake or Dr. Voto before the end of the year? Call us today for an appointment. We serve patients from Owasso, Claremore, Sperry, Collinsville, Tulsa, Skiatook, and surrounding areas.

Sweeten Your Holiday Treats with Xylitol

Halloween is just a few weeks away; after that, there’s one holiday after another until the end of 2013. With these holidays come a string of parties and a parade of treats. Sweets high in sugar are bad for your overall health, but they also post a threat to your oral health. That’s because sugar spurs the production of bacteria and acid, which wreak havoc on the layer of enamel protecting your teeth.

But despite how harmful sugar is, you don’t have to give up on holiday sweets. Xylitol, a natural sweetener derived from the fibrous part of plants, will give your treats that great taste you’re looking for but with far fewer calories and without putting your smile in danger. That’s because xylitol doesn’t lead to the creation of bacteria and acid; it creates a neutral environment instead. Some toothpaste brands even use xylitol to protect teeth from decay.

How can you include xylitol in your treats this holiday season? If you’re baking it’s as simple as just substituting sugar for xylitol, with a ratio of 1:1. For Halloween, you can look for candy sweetened with xylitol. Natural food stores sell xylitol candies, but you can also find plenty of options online at Amazon and other online retailers, like Dr. John’s Candies and Ice Chips.

Do you have questions about xylitol, or do you need to schedule a checkup with Dr. Gene Drake or Dr. Jayson Voto? Call Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry. We serve patients from Owasso, Claremore, Sperry, Collinsville, Tulsa, Skiatook, and beyond.

In some cases, implementing cosmetic or restorative care takes just one visit, while others will take two, three, or possibly more. During your visit to our Owasso dental office, Dr. Gene Drake or Dr. Jayson Voto will complete a thorough oral exam and talk to you about your medical history, your needs, and your goals. Then, once we have all the information we need, a personalized treatment plan can be put together.

Invisalign and Conventional Braces: Two Options for a Straighter Smile

Are misaligned teeth keeping you from feeling confident about your smile? With the orthodontic options Dr. Gene Drake and Dr. Jayson Voto offer, young patients and even adults can look forward to achieving a straighter, healthier smile.

Our Owasso dental office offer’s conventional braces and Invisalign clear braces. Why two options? Because not every patient needs the same level of orthodontic care. Conventional braces will help a patient with significant misalignment, while Invisalign is better suited for small, cosmetic changes.

What’s more, Invisalign is an appealing choice for adults concerned about maintaining a professional appearance. Instead of using brackets and wires, Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners. Patients will wear each aligner for about two weeks before moving on to the next, with each one moving teeth closer to their ideal position. Added to this, Invisalign patients can take their aligners out to eat, brush, and floss—something you just can’t do with conventional braces.

But is Invisalign right for you, or do you need conventional braces?

At Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, our Owasso dental team would be happy to help you answer that question. Through a simple consultation appointment, Dr. Drake and Dr. Voto can learn about your needs, your medical history, and your goals going forward. Then, based on what they learn by looking at your smile and talking to you, they can make a personalized recommendation.

Do you need orthodontic help? Call Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry today to reserve an appointment. We serve patients from Owasso, Claremore, Sperry, Collinsville, Tulsa, Skiatook, and beyond.

Ease the Signs of Wrinkles with Botox, Juvéderm and Latisse

When you think of going to see a dentist, it’s because you need a checkup or you need some other kind of service. You don’t typically think of how your dentist might be able to help you beat signs of aging or improve your eyelashes. But at Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer several of today’s most popular aesthetic services, including:

  • Botox
  • Juvéderm
  • Latisse

With one or more of these services, we can help you transform how you look and improve your confidence. Here’s how each works.

Botox

Botox was made to ease the appearance of lines and wrinkles located around the eyes and brow. When injected, it prevents muscle contractions, resulting in a younger appearance for months at a time. How long does Botox last? A single treatment will provide excellent results for as long as four months. What’s more, Botox can also treat the symptoms of TMJ dysfunction.

Juvéderm

Juvéderm targets a different set of wrinkles, specifically the ones around the mouth and nose. What’s more, instead of preventing muscle contractions, Juvéderm actually fills wrinkles, volumizing your appearance in the process. Patients who choose Juvéderm can look forward to seeing amazing results for as long as a year.

Latisse

For some patients, it’s not wrinkles they want to treat, it’s their eyelashes. Latisse is the only FDA-approved prescription for lash-growth. How effective is it? More than 2.5 million bottles have been sold since it was introduced. The solution is applied to the top of lashes in the evening, and within weeks you can look forward to having fuller, darker lashes.

Do you want to learn more about any of these aesthetic services? Call Drake & Voto Family and Cosmetic Dentistry with your questions or to schedule an appointment.
